Purahome are proud to cover these humidifiers in Canada for a full 3 years against defects in parts and labour. Most ultrasonic humidifiers carry a 1 year warranty only. Accessories, as consumables, are exempt from this warranty.

How does the Air-O-Swiss U300 Cool Mist Humidifier work?

Your Air-O-Swiss U300 Cool Mist Humidifier is a portable humidifier that provides hygienic humidity for small spaces:

1. Ultrasonic Humidification - The Air-O-Swiss U300 Cool Mist is an ultrasonic humidifier. This means that it uses high-frequency vibrations to turn your water into a micro-fine mist. The micro-fine mist that you see blowing out of the U300 Cool Mist humidifier travels into your room where it immediately evaporates and can no longer be seen. Many of our customers like this because it offers them peace of mind after a simple glance that the system is in operation.

Cool mist humidifiers are better suited for allergy relief compared to warm mist humidifiers. They may also make a room feel more cool. When the cool mist is evaporated into humidity, this process uses energy from your living space to do so and may create a “cool” sensation.

Another advantage of the ultrasonic system, with its high-frequency vibrations, most bacteria and viruses are destroyed.

2. HydroCell - The Hydro Cell offers silver plus technology to prevent the growth of mold and bacteria. It also dechlorinates the water for healthier humidity and family. Purahome believes reducing your exposure to chlorine reduces your risk of cancer. 3. Demineralizer cartridge - A replaceable demineralizer cartridge ensures water mist with reduced scale or mineral residues for less dust on furniture. If hard water is being used to fill the humidifier, the Demineralizing Cartridge should work well for 2 to 3 months. Emergence of white dust indicates the cartridge needs to be changed or refilled.

Note that if you fill your ultrasonic humidifier with soft water, you will see white dust at some point due to the increase in mineral content of your water/humidity. This is because of the sodium in your water (which has replaced calcium and magnesium). The Demineralizing Cartridge can only remove calcium and magnesium, the two elements responsible for scale formation.

Ideally, Purahome wants you to use chlorine-free water as well as water free from organics to provide you with the healthiest possible humidity. Therefore, our Aquaspace filtered water is even better to use in your Air-O-Swiss Humidifier.

4. Optional Ionic Silver Cube - You can use an Ionic Silver Cube offered at Purahome by another one of our manufacturers with your Air-O-Swiss humidifier. It will start to work as soon as it comes into contact with water, even when your humidifier is off.  Silver imparts a special frequency throughout the water to control microbial growth for up to one year with continuous use.

Why do I keep getting lots of white dust on my floors and furniture?

If you are running an ultrasonic humidifier, without a demineralizing cartridge, the minerals that are sent out of the humidifier with the water vapour will appear as white dust.  If you are using a demineralizing cartridge, it is quite likely that it is fully saturated and no longer affective.  If the ultrasonic humidifier is being used where there is no air flow (radiant heat), there is a greater likelihood of seeing the white dust.

There is slime in my humidifier. What is it and is it harmful?

If you notice that there is a layer of slime at the bottom of your humidifier, this means that there is a biofilm caused by bacterial growth.  The unit should be cleaned with mild soap and water, and also sanitized with hydrogen peroxide, or a natural disinfectant, such as Benefect.

How do I clean my humidifier?

Whenever water evaporates, minerals will accumulate.  To descale the humidifier, use an acidic solution, such as vinegar, or EZ-Cal, and let the unit soak for 30 minutes.  Clean with a stiff brush and then rinse with water.
