How do the Abatement HEPA Purifier Models Differ?
The Abatement CAP600, CAP600-UV and CAP600-UVP models cover a 2250 sq ft home in 30 minutes on average. All of the purifiers have the exact same aluminum cabinet, german motor, airflow, 2-stage prefiltration and certified HEPA filter. The Abatement CAP600-UVP also contains a UVP (P for photolytic) bulb that uses 2 frequencies of light to both help reduce odours and sanitize the ac coils on top of reducing microbials such as mould and bacteria. The Abatement CAP600-UV contains a UV bulb that uses 1 frequency of light to help deactivate microbials such as mould and bacteria. The Abatement CAP600 has no UV light and it cannot be added at a later date inside the system.
The Abatement CAP1200-UV and CAP1200-UVP models cover a much larger space of 3750 sq ft home in 30 minutes on average, and is reccomended for larger homes. Both have the exact same cabinet, german motor, airflow, 3-stage prefiltration and certified HEPA filter. The Technology that Abatement Uses
How does the Abatement HEPA Air Purifier clean the air in your home?
The Abatement CAP Series HEPA air purifiers use advanced and efficient air cleaning technology. They feature:
1. Advanced Fibre-Trapper High-Capacity Prefilter 
Compared to fibreglass panel filters, these filters last longer because they have a 5 times greater dirt holding capacity. As MERV 4 rated, they also have a higher particle arrestance as per ASHRAE 52-76, so they extend the life of the more costly subsequent filters and they are also biodegradeable – GO GREEN!
Filter life: 6 months based on the air purifier being on all the time.
2. H502 Particulate Filter (ONLY IN THE CAP1200 SERIES) 
Two inch pleated prefilter protects the Vapor-Lock filter and HEPA filter while trapping visible particulate. With a MERV 8 rating, this second stage particulate filter protects your health and extends the life of the more costly subsequent filters.
Filter life: 6 months based on the air purifier being on all the time.
3. Pleated Vapor-Lock Carbon/Particulate Filter 
Vapor-Lock® activated carbon filters are dual function – they filter fine particulate and capture airborne gases, VOCs, and odours. VOCs (volatile organic compounds) are often generated by off-gassing from carpets, composite wood furniture, and other materials in the home. Vapor-Lock® filters capture gases and odours via adsorption, a process whereby the gaseous molecules of the contaminants are attracted and chemically bound to the surface of the carbon. The effectiveness and life of the Vapor-Lock® carbon filter is determined by the concentration of gases and odours in the home.
Filter life: 6 months for the CAP600 and 1 year for the CAP1200 or based on the air purifier being on all the time.
4. HEPA Air Filtration 
Individually tested and precertified to a guarantee greater airflow, your HEPA filter eliminates bacteria, viruses, automobile brake and combustion particles, and smoke, through a nano-fibre structure. Based on rigourous research, Purahome believes that this HEPA filtration will reduce your exposure to particulate and improve your health. It is third party certified to have greater than 99.97% efficiency at 0.3u.
Filter life: 2 – 3 years based on the air purifier being on all the time.
5. (Optional) UV Light/Bulb or UVP Photolysis Lamp/Bulb 
The UV bulb is brilliantly placed inside the cylindrical HEPA, where the air is already pre-cleaned for better UV performance. This germicidal UV system reduces microbial organisms exposed to its line of sight.
The UVP bulb is brilliantly placed inside the cylindrical HEPA, where the air is already pre-cleaned. This system provides better UVP performance. With an output of 33 microwatts/square centimeter, measured 1 metre away, the UV effectively reduces microbes. Unlike germicidal UV systems, our UV Plus technology does not need a clear line of sight exposure of the microbial organism to the lamp. Consequently, better performance is assured. This technology employs a second frequency of light that splits oxygen in order to create short-term ozone (short-term because it reverts back into oxygen in seconds). This process continues in your duct work and air conditioning coils to break down airborne microbes, gases, and odors through good chemistry (an oxidation process called photolysis). Abatement CAP1200-UVP systems are designed to generate 0.10 to 0.20 ppm of ozone in the purifier so that, when measured with duct testing only 10 feet downstream, the concentration is reduced to 0.01 ppm or less. This is well below 0.05 ppm or typical outdoor levels. This is why you will never smell ozone with the Abatement CAP1200-UVP system – unlike an electronic air cleaner. You can feel confident in Purahome’s research into this product. Our scientific research indicates that the Abatement CAP1200 with UVP will improve your health.

How to Improve Your Air Quality
As is the case with any whole home air cleaner installation, best results are achieved with the furnace fan running, especially when a family member has a greater need for improved air quality. It is the customer’s choice whether to run the furnace fan 100% of the time or not (hydro costs will go up but air quality will be better).
