The GC MultiGas is custom-designed for reducing a broad range of gases and odours from your air. “Whenever I discuss the GC MultiGas, it always brings back my university chemistry days and being in the labs,” says Purahome President Mario Di Franco, a chemist himself. “We once had a Canadian Government Agency fax us a 2 page list of chemicals they were using in a confined space. After going through the list and determining which substances were the volatile ones, we knew right away this was a job for the GC MultiGas.”

1. Targeted Gas & Molecular Control - Good Bye to Unwanted Gases and Odours

Different indoor environments have different air cleaning needs. IQAir has custom designed specific air purifier models to target specific groups of air pollutants. This approach maximizes effectiveness and minimizes cost.

In addition to removing pollutant particles, such as dust and latex allergens, your Dental Series is highly effective in removing molecular air pollutants, such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and other gaseous chemicals, unpleasant odours and Mercury vapour. Purahome time and time again shows most people who own a different air cleaner that their unit does very little to adsorb gases and odours despite the manufacturer’s claims. It’s simple chemistry and Purahome knows the formula. For example, formaldehyde, a known carcinogen and common off-gassing substance in homes, passes right on by past a carbon filter. The oxidizing component in the Dental Pro Model however, breaks it down and it gets adsorbed.

Purahome’s favorite "fan-in-center" design (also found in our Abatement Whole Home  HEPA Series) in the Dental Series places the fan motor in-between sound reducing filters. A unique double-walled housing effectively reduces sound transmission as does eight rubber suspension pads that reduce motor vibration. The result is an air purifier quiet enough for your bedroom and virtually inaudible on the low fan-speed settings.

Currently there are four specialized gas phase media configurations available:

• GC VOC
(for control of volatile organic compounds, solvents, etc.)
• GC MultiGas
(for control of wide range of gaseous organic and inorganic chemicals)
• GC Chemisorber
(for control of formaldehyde, hydrogen sulfide, sulfur dioxide, etc.)
• GC AM
(for control of ammonia and ammonia compounds)
In applications with higher concentrations or where longer filter life is desired GCX Series units should be considered.

4. Micro-charged Filtration (Post Filter Sleeves)
Eliminates activated carbon and chemisorption abrasion particles through a statically charged fiber structure. Filter life: 1– 3 years based on 8 to 10 hours of daily operation using speed 3 or 4.

2 & 3. Specialized Cartridge-based Molecular Control (GC Cartridges)
Four filter cartridges hold up to 17 lbs. of granular and/or pellet-shaped gas phase control media. The cylindrical shape of these cartridges allows for optimum contact, which ensure high removal efficiencies. The large surface area of the cartridges enables high airflow rates. Filter life: 1– 3 years based on 8 to 10 hours of daily operation using speed 3 or 4.

1. Micro- and Nano-particle Filtration (HEPA)
Eliminates micro- and nano-particles such as allergens, smoke, bacteria and viruses. This thorough particle pre-filtration is essential for extending the life of the gas phase control media by preventing its pores from clogging with particulates. Filter life: 6 – 18 months based on 8 to 10 hours of daily operation using speed 3 or 4.

What we are not excited about:

• Wheel casters sometimes need replacement after breaking but IQAir realized this also and the result is a stronger caster with less frequent replacement. (Purahome ships them free of charge anyways!)
• Contemporary look is great but for a smaller room with tight quarters, the size can be relatively obtrusive (even the Compact model has the same footprint).
• Top speed is powerful but loud so in talking to our customers, they use it wisely (on low-medium speeds when nearby and on high speed when further away or when not at home)
 

Warranty: 1 year - IQAir and Purahome are proud to cover this air purifier in Canada for a full year against defects in parts and labour. Filters as consumables, are exempt from this warranty.
