Epurair 1625 High Efficiency Media Air Cleaners provide homeowners with a significantly higher level of particulate filtration than standard furnace filters or electrostatic filters at an economical price. Only your Epurair 1625 Air Cleaner comes with an integrated diffuser that allows you to sanitize your ductwork (for example , many Purahome customers do this when they change their media filter) as well as neutralize odours.  

 

 

These media air cleaners are affordable units that feature a unique filter housing. After visiting the manufacturing facility, we came away impressed in how the housing is manufactured using laser precision metal cutting technology to minimize air leakage and bypass resulting in cleaner air in your home. Purahome also likes how the housing is gasketed with automobile grade foam used in high heat applications. NO FIBREGLASS here like other manufacturers. Fibreglass can break down in time to increase particulate in your air. Finally, two coils are used that are spring-loaded (one in the top track and one in the bottom) that prevent the High Efficiency Media Filter from vibrating or shaking.

We are amazed at how many homes we have been in where there is a high efficiency filter inserted into a housing and the filter is rattling back and forth. We are also surprised at how often a homeowner who was frustrated and tired of their antiquated electronic air cleaner so they paid an HVAC technician to remove the electronic coils and simply slide in a new media filter that does not seal at all in the old housing. This is POOR quality filtration (and a lack of knowledge on the technician’s part) when a homeowner spent a little extra money to try to get better quality air!

Your Epurair 1625 is so named because it is designed with 16" x 25" filters for smaller tonnage HVAC forced air systems and heat pumps. Your Epurair 1625 is specially made so that its dimensions (Purahome estimates a 90% chance) are the same as your old electronic air cleaner so that switching over requires no special duct work. You save time and money. The dimension are:

7” wide x 17.25” high x 25.5” deep

Epurair 1625 provides a much higher level of particulate filtration and dirt holding capacity than standard furnace filters or electrostatic filters. These in-line filtration systems capture up to 97% of the microparticles that standard filters miss, including fine dust, dirt particles and pollens.  The 4” Pleated Particulate Filter has achieved a very good MERV 14 efficiency rating in tests conducted in accordance with the ASHRAE 52.2 standard. This means that the media filter captures a guaranteed minimum of 75% of particles between 0.3 and 1 microns in size and a minimum 90% of particles between 1 and 3 microns in size or larger.

What Air Cleaning Technology Is In My Epurair 1625 Whole Home High Efficiency Media Filter?

1. Advanced High Efficiency Media Filtration

Various types of mechanical filters are suitable for trapping certain sizes of airborne particles. Low, medium and high-efficiency filters are rated under the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers standard # ASHRAE 52.2. Under this standard, filters are assigned a MERV (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value) rating between 1 and 16. The higher the MERV rating is, the more efficient the filter. A standard throwaway furnace filter might be rated at MERV 1 or MERV 2, while hospital filters typically are MERV 12 to MERV 16, depending on the critical nature of the area.

Your Epurair 1625 employs MERV 14 High-Efficiency pleated particulate to capture microparticles that would pass right through most throwaway furnace filters. Particles in this size range include soot, very fine dust, dust mite and insect remains, pet dander and many types of pollen and mold spores.

What we are not excited about:

• For customers who want to replace their antiquated electronic air cleaner with different dimensions than the EP1625, a little duct work is required. In new home construction though, installation is simple. In retrofit applications, a professional installer is recommended.
• The pressure drop is a little higher than we would like to see so we recommend this system for smaller homes only where the furnaces are smaller and require less airflow to condition the home. It is important to change the filter on schedule, every 6 to 12 months.

Warranty: 5 years - Epurair and Purahome are proud to cover this air purifier in Canada for a full 5 years against defects in parts and labour. Filters as consumables, are exempt from this warranty.
